HBO’s The Jinx examined the extraordinary life of wealthy New York property heir Robert Durst, who had been linked to several suspicious deaths and disappearances over the years. The documentary investigated the disappearance of his wife Kathleen McCormack Durst, the murder of his friend Susan Berman and the death of Morris Black. One of the most famous moments in true crime television came when Durst was recorded apparently speaking to himself while still wearing a microphone after an interview. The series attracted enormous attention and renewed interest in the evidence surrounding him. Durst was later convicted of murdering Susan Berman and sentenced to life imprisonment. He died in prison in 2022.

Have you watched The Jinx? Do you think documentaries can genuinely help move old investigations forward, or should filmmakers stay separate from active criminal cases?
