Human remains discovered in south-west London have been identified as Joanne Sheen, a 44 year-old mother of three who disappeared in December 2019. The remains were found near Padstow Walk in Feltham after a fire had cleared vegetation in the area.
Joanne had last been seen on 5 December 2019 after travelling from Fareham towards Southampton. Although she disappeared in 2019, she was not reported missing until February 2020.
Police confirmed on 17 September 2026 that forensic and DNA work had identified the remains as Joanne's. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has now taken over the investigation from the Metropolitan Police.
A 56-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and was reported to be in police custody. An arrest is not a conviction, and the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
Crimestoppers has also reinstated a £20,000 reward for information that could assist the investigation. Detectives are appealing for anyone who knows anything about Joanne's disappearance or how her remains came to be in Feltham to come forward.
Hopefully this discovery finally brings Joanne's family closer to understanding what happened to her after almost seven years without answers.
